This is a science-fiction/horror movie that was made in 2006. It's about a South Korean family who tries to save the daughter from an enormous fish-like monster that surfaces from the Han River (a major river in South Korea). I chose this movie because I like science- fiction and horror movies. The graphics were fairly good and the movie is quite campy (like a typical B-rated movie), but it is intriguing and it will keep you interested in knowing the outcome. The monster captures and kills some of its victims. Despite being thrown into an underground sewer, some of the victims are able to survive. The little girl is one of the survivors and the movie centers around the family trying their best to locate and rescue the girl (she retrieves a cellphone from one of the dead victims and leaves an ominous message for her father). Eventually her family does rescue her, but unfortunately she still dies at the end of the movie. After killing the monster (her aunt who is very skilled in archery shoots the monster with a burning arrow), the movie ends with her father setting out to sea to hunt down any more of these monsters along with a boy (who was captured by the monster and protected by the girl in the underground sewer and survived the ordeal). The movie has some suspenseful parts and some gruesome parts when the monster eats his victims. It's a little over 2 hours long, and I stayed interested in what was happening until the very end. I recommend it for those who like science-fiction and/or horror movies. I'm definitely going to recommend it to my sixth grade students since they like cool monster movies.
