Day one - Watch the movie up to the uprising.Discuss the notions of filial piety , romantic love, and the way French and Annamite cultures understand them.

Discuss in groups which of these views the students associate with and why.
Day two - Continue watching the movie.Prepare a list of family related vocabulary that students need to review.
Day three - Separate in groups and have each group select their favorite or least favorite character.Then tell the story from his or her point of view.Write a paragraph expressing a characters opinion about the events happening in Indochina, the rise of nationalism and the infiltration of communism.
