I use the following powerpoint to guide my students through readings about Japan's Golden Age.
The powerpoint addresses the move of Japanese capital from Nara by Emepror Kammu, the importance of rank in Heian court, the differentiation of rank through symbols and clothing, fashion trends during Heian period, Developpment of Art and Literature and End of Heian Period.
