First, must advertise the fact that a number of galleries in Chinatown will be having openings the evening of the 9th, particularly on Chungking Rd. but also some on other streets. Since it doesn't look like our latest edition will come out in time to advertise that . . .
Does anyone know much about how Chinatown came to have such a huge concentration of galleries? Some of the curators I talked to said it probably started because rent was cheap enough for artists to set up studios in the neighborhood . . .is there a comprehensive history of the LA Chinatown?
