This is the official promotion video of Beijing filmed by the Beijing Ministry of Tourism. This 12 minutes long video is beautifully shot. The sky view, sunset views, and daylight images of the city are amazing.

β€œThe video covers all the major scenic spots in Beijing, the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Hutong, Nanluoguxiang, 798 Art Zone, Temple of Heaven and Ming Tombs. It also shows the differences between the Old Beijing and Modern Beijing, the lives of the local people, as well as the Beijing during big holidays like the Spring Festival.”

As I research and try to plan for my curriculum project, I am coming across many videos that are helping fill in the pieces of information that I missed during our tour. While I tried to take notes and remember the various things Josephine or Clay told us during our site visits, I have to admit, I lost some information already. The many pictures taken will definitely help tell a story, but these videos are helpful.

    1) The old summer palace
β€œ Under Five Emperors of 150 years' constructing, Yuanming Yuan (The Old Summer Palace) became the largest and most luxurious royal garden in Qing Dynasty (1644-1912 AD), which was regarded as the "real garden of all gardens". In 1860, the Anglo-France joint force burned the Yuanming Yuan after their three days plundering during the second Opium War. The Yuanming Yuan was totally destroyed by Eight-Nation Alliance in the summer of 1900. This documentary is based on narration of the royal painter Giuseppe Castiglione (Lang Shining) (a former Italian missionary) and plenty of mails and diaries written by British and French missionaries and soldiers.”

I saw this apple watch commercial a few times since our return from our tour. I can now say, " I was there. It was amazing". It features a few of the places we visited while in Beijing.

In case you haven't had the opportunity to see it on tv, here's the link.
