SpectatorMost of the follow-up weekend will be given over to sharing photos, returning borrowed articles of clothing, and making presentations on how we plan to bring what we've learned into our classrooms and how we intend to share our ideas on teaching about East Asia with our colleagues.
Please use this space to offer your own suggestions for the weekend.

GuestClay,
If I bring a powerpoint on CD or a web site presentation, will you have a computer & projector available?
Thanks,

GuestHi Clay,
Just wondering if you have dates in mind for the follow up weekend? I'm starting to fill in my calendar and I'd like to keep the weekend open.

GuestCaryn and I have 519 pictures. We are working on categorizing them (middle school, high school, transportation, temples, etc.). Putting the pictures into smaller related groups will make developing classroom activities and lessons a lot easier. It will aslo make it easier to present some of the pictures in October. Count us in on web site presentations!

GuestSince I'm teaching right now, I scheduled time at our staff meeting 7/28 to give a presentation to my fellow teachers about our trip. To avoid boring them, I need to focus on specific topics rather than show 500 pictures of the entire trip. I decided the first presentation will be on the differences and similarities of Korean, Japanese, and US education systems. I'll use a powerpoint and an lcd projector to show my materials. Then I'll leave a copy of the presentation materials on the school's server for teachers to access from their own rooms.

SpectatorHi Folks,
As announced a couple of weeks ago via the discussion list, we'll be assembling on 10/18-19. Rooms have been reserved for everyone in the Brentwood Holiday Inn and Miranda's been working with the N. California contingent on their flight plans.Among our plans are:
your presentations on what you are doing/will do with your students
your presentations on what you are doing/will do with your colleagues
a screening of Joint Security Area
discussion of big questions answered, raised by the trip
suggestions on improving the tripAs before, we're picking up parking (please carpool), accommodations, and food.
If you need help on the logistics, please contact Miranda at

GuestIt was wonderful to see you all again and enjoy your friendship and humor. I wish I could host a reunion in my little shack in the big woods, but we have only 1200 square feet. How about if we pick a vacation spot and try to rendezvous? The spectacular Asilomar in Pacific Grove (Monterey) does groups at reasonable rates. Anybody interested?
Clay, good luck with next year's pack of alpha females![Edit by="vhinkle on Oct 19, 6:24:11 PM"][/Edit]

Guest8) Vacation spot? If the dates in late July to mid August are good, I am in! Our summer plans are too firm as yet. Didn't take you long to suggest a reunion...a thought on many of our minds.
I enjoyed the week-end more than I thought I would.Barbara

GuestLet's go for it!
Asilomar State Park is located on the beach at the tip of the gorgeous rocky Monterey peninsula.
2004 rates per night (including 3 meals) range from $70 to $105.Asilomar web site is at:
http://www.asilomarcenter.com/accomodations/index.htmlTake a look at the scenery. Otters swim offshore. White sand. Deer in the trees. Walk to the water from your room. This place is serene both summer and winter.

GuestI am definitely interested - set some dates - mid to late July probably best for me! And I haven't forgotten to send you all my pictures - just need to get my act together and buy a fresh spool with jewel cases. I promise they will eventually arrive!
