since the Chinese have instituted the one child per couple law to alleviate the exponential population growth, there have been many ramifications other than the stabilizing of population. those effects: the attempt to control the actions of parents who want a baby boy, the rising ratio of men to women, the intentional abortion of female fetuses, etc have been/are tolerated because the population is not growing as fast. it's sad, but it works. they, the Chinese believe that the quality of life is being preserved; they won't run out of resources as quickly.
