    I rented Qui Ju Guansi (The story of Qui Ju ) made in 1992.
    The story is about a woman who is looking for justice after
    her husband was kicked between the legs by the head of
    thier village. They say this movie is a comedy howevere,
    I found nothing funny about it. I dont know if I missed
    something but I was bored to death.

    hey there!

    oftentimes that happens with foreign films, there have been many times i have left the theatre absolutely puzzled and unsatisfied. now, after hearing lyn miyake talk and explain that the japanese culture enjoys open-endedness and no question, i understand. evangel....i left the letters from the end of my name out!!!!JOKE

    The Story of Qiu Ju is the only one of Zhang Yimou's 1980s and 1990s films to be really popular among Chinese. Many Chinese complain that he makes films more for foreign audiences than for them. His movies the past several years, though, have received awards and attracted large audiences in China.

    Qiu Ju strikes Chinese as funny and real because the woman goes up against authority and demands justice. They laugh as this countrywoman heads into the city, not knowing what to do or where to go.
