I really enjoyed Morgan's presentation and was very stimulated by the material. I felt engaged and invested in the lecture the entire time. I also could relate to the material which helps staying focused after a long day. I wish there were more slides or pictures to link to his lecture. The differences among China, Japan, and Korea were fascinating. I feel so liberated to be a women in our society and appreciative of the freedom we have these days. Life is so different in other cultures and in history. I am thankful for those who changed it for us. I very much take it for granted.

I also enjoyed Dr. Pitelka's lecture and wish that there were more slides to look at. Upon reviewing my notes I realize that his lecture was very structured and he clearly delineated time and place in the study of women. I really liked his comment about Genji in the Tale of Genji being compared to Brad Pitt. Something that I can relate to!!! The bibliography is great and I will revisit it when it comes time to purchase the library materials.

    Amy,
I too found Dr. Morgan Pitelke's lecture intriguing. He made the lecture seem like a walk in the park discussion, but he was really quite organized. I like the way he compared the cultures and timelines… he gave some unique points of view. My favorite was his statement that many take particular issues out of context eg: foot binding. While I find the practice revolting, I found his explanation about women choosing the practice as a form of beauty much like plastic surgery in America today eye opening. I have given it more thought over the last few weeks than I can share here.
