this is the site where i got info from http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8091198/

with that said.. the article is basically about how the united states is noticing that china is builiding up its military and that it shouldnt because it is not being threatened by any country. also it is said that many missles are pointed to taiwan and china will use these weapons if taiwan declares its independence. and how chinese leaders are upset because the U.S. is supplying taiwan with weapons.

i strongly dislike how america still enforces roosevelt's corollary.. or rather his big stick policy.. u know where america is the policeman of the world.. telling each country.. hey u stop having nuclear weapons.. hey u..u treat human beings cruelly ( that situation in singapore and how punishment is conducted there) did God make the united states the king of the world? who is the united states to dictate what countries can or cannot do. I mean we have nuclear weapons how come we are trusted with them. why cant other nations secure themselves with nuclear weapons? i mean after all the united states is the only country that used nuclear weapons on another country.. i think.. at least with the hiroshima and nakasaki bombings.. i think china is just protecting itself. it is predicted that it will become a dominant power in the next 20-30 years. china is the third country to send someone up to the moon or space. i think china is just trying to build itself up, granted it should start within its own country by providing everyone with education and making sure that people aren't living in poor housing. but they are their own government and can do what they want.

with taiwan..im going to be careful saying this because i know there are a lot of people from taiwan or having taiwanese heritage.. but i mean taiwanese and chinese people have to remember that they originally are from china..granted there are native inhabitants in taiwan.. but most chinese people left china to go to taiwan to run from mao zedong.. and i know that the main thing is that taiwanese people dont want to be associated with communism which is what some people think being chinese is.. being communist.. or something.. i dont know what im trying to say.. just that i hope china and taiwan's conflict will end peacefully because i think they could start the next world war 3, them instead of the middle east crisis between isreal and palestine. in a way.. that would be kind of interesting a world war that started in the east.. (knocks on wood)

basically united states should leave people alone.. and focus on their own problems.. like their unemployment rate and the defecit that california has.. and la unifed school district.. or something.. or how bout the darfur thing.. i mean people are getting slaughtered how come we arent over there.. cuz they cant help us.. i guess. we only help people that are in our best interest.. ahh the more i talk about the world.. the more i think that humans are sad pathetic creatures.. >.<

I also agree that America should no longer consider itself the policeman of the world. Lets just look at the last time we interferred with other nations' affairs, Vietnam. What happened their??? Even though I do think that China may be dangerous if they built up their military, I still don't think it is America's business to interfere.

Also commenting on Taiwan and China's relationship, I believe that it may be better if Taiwan became part of China again. I for one have taiwanes heritage but I have no problem seeing that it is only better for Taiwan to join with China. Simply on an economic stand point, if Taiwan joins China, the economic benefits are numerous and unbelievable. Just having able to trade with China will bring great profits to farmers in Taiwan. Also, if there are direct flights from Taiwan to China, think about how convenient it would be for Taiwanese businessman to travel back and forth.

I think right now, the only difference causing Taiwan to stand firm on being independent is their belief that Taiwanese is still "better." Taiwanese don't want to give up the identity of having their own nation and this is causing all the conflicts between Taiwan and China. If Taiwan would just stop being stubborn and accept the fact that there will be more benefit in being one with China than being alone, maybe the conflicts can be solved much quicker and effectively.

I am sure there are also a lot of political reasons and history behind these issues too, but personally, I think Taiwan should merge with China due to economic benefits.

I don't know if America's assumptions about China's military build up is true, but supplying Taiwan with weapons can cause a problem. By supporting taiwan in a military way, China might get mix singals and think that America want to use Taiwan as a decoy to start conflicts. America should really start staying out of other countries' business unless we are asked for help. Even if we were asked for help, we should consider if the cause is just or not, we can't just jump head first into something and think about the consequences later.
