In this session the talk/discussions were about how the Sung Dynasty still was in power and how the West made it big because of gun powder. Now Japan is peaceful because there is no one to fight at this time. Now the reformers see a need for China to import science and technology and convinced Empress Dowager to push for it.
Japan has now become powerful because they beat the Chinese. Now the Boxer Rebellion begins. The boxers are anti Christian, anti-Western and believed in the martial Arts, to help assist them in their fighting against others. It is speculated that the Boxers hated Christian Ministries. Because the ministries were not subjected to Chinese Laws in the ports, as The Manchu’s allowed the ministries in, the Chinese people were blamed. The missionaries were slaughter by the Boxers, and so now, the Boxers take over. However, this is a story, and not a real truth, (as per the teacher).
In trying to learn about Pig religion, as the professor talked about. I was not able to locate any information other than that the Islamic people do not eat pork. At the seminar it was brought up that in Pig religion people were consumed, especially babies.
Now a Nanking treaty is signed enabling students to be able to go to the United States.
It was an interesting fact to find out that President Mc Kinley was shot and therefore Teddy Roosevelt took over as president of the United States. I never knew that Teddy Roosevelt was not elected into office, but rather was actually throne, into office, (pun intended).
In the 1950, the interstate highway was built for the purposes of moving and transporting things around.
The Qing Dynasty was still in power and they did two things to their country, the Qing Dynasty kept order both internally and externally, and they collected taxes so that, that cash could be turned into something that they needed/wanted

The Sung Dynasty was known as the Golden Age in China as it is stated, "With a prosperous economy and radiant culture, this period was considered as another period of 'golden age' after the glorious Tang Dynasty (618 - 907)." Due to the Song's Dynasty push for technology, science, military advances in ship building with iron made China a comperator with the Westerners that lead more advanced due to the gun powder production. During this time in history most of China's, Japan, and Korean enemies are at peace trying to advance and improve their military advances and compete with England and United States on international economy based on military building. According to most sources reference to the Sung Dynasty as prosperours as stated to the reading, "Song Dynasty was prosperous in many respects of the society. In agriculture, the productive technology was improved which promoted the output of food; in handicraft industry, the division of labor became more detailed which made the  handicrafts technology reach an advanced level; additionally, the development of the commodity economy exceeded the previous level. Particularly, the earliest paper currency appeared at that period."
