This is an easy quick website that elementary teachers can go to to gather information on teaching young children about Chinese culture. I have used this website a few times especially when gathering information for my lesson plan when I was searching for information on Confucius. Some of the renounces that I found useful:
1. Chinese New Year: traditions, decorations, greetings, 12 animals, parade, and New Year banners.
2. Crafts for Kids: paper lantern, red balloon lantern, Chinese dragon, Chinese paper fan, red envelopes, and paper firecrackers.
3. Chinese food: how to eat with chopsticks, Chinese cooking and foods, and a dim sum guide.
4. Resources: china maps, china pictures, video gallery, and around the world.
5. Chinese writing: how to write numbers, and Chinese New Year Sayings.
6. Chinese Culture: who were Confucius, Chinese dragon dance, Chinese lion dance, and Chinese dragon.
I plan on letting my students freely roam this website on their ipads for 10 minutes. They have tons of resources and articles that my students can read. My students that work independently can work with a partner on a craft of their choice and my students that need assistance can pick a craft and I can prep and guide them on making the craft.
