The Choices Program, a civic engagement curriculum program at Brown University, offers a variety of teaching resources accessible for the classroom.  One of the units titled China on the World Stage: Weighing the US Response offers excellent teaching materials about China.   The curriculum shares student readings, study guides, student centered activities and lessons, and much more.  Students are able to participate in a deliberation focusing on ‘What priorities should guide the US relationship with China?’  To learn more about this Choices unit you can access this link https://www.choices.edu/curriculum-unit/china-world-stage-weighing-u-s-response/

Choices also offers curriculum focusing on specific issues in the news.  One issue to highlight from their Teaching With The News link relating to East Asia is the South China Sea conflict.  This online resource offers teaching materials to help students unpack the conflict and recognize different perspectives of the conflict.

A final valuable resource to share from the Choices website is the ‘Videos’ link.   The site offers short videos to share with students relating to specific topics of US – China relations.  These videos are a great way to open or close a lesson based on content learning targets relating to classroom instruction. https://www.choices.edu/video-playlist/?unit=404
