On first glance,http:http://korea.net seems to be an English language resource that provides links to Korean current events, opinion pieces written by Koreans or those with Korean heritage, news and magazine articles, a list of Korean cultural performances, art exhibitions and museum exhibits featuring work by Korean artists, or cultural relics. The site also includes Koreans or Korean-related issues in other countries. However, upon further exploration into the website, there is an About Korea section that is a treasure trove of information about the daily life, geography, history, sports, tourism, culture, arts, economy, food. The About Korea section even has information about South Korea’s relationship with various countries throughout the world, and how South Korea is adapting to its newly increasing multicultural households. Due to the more sophisticated vocabulary, I think that this site would be an excellent resource for older students in upper middle school, or high school. This could be used in teaching civics, current events, journalism (how stories in other countries are covered, bias in publications?), or even for research projects.
