The film is the first from the Obamas from Netflix. It takes a look at a Chinese company opening in Ohio. It pursues concepts of union, globalization, workers' rights, gender roles in the industrial work place and many others. While I found it very interesting from start to finish, I don't believe students will find it intensely engaging. I have pulled about six sections that range from 5 - 10 minutes that emphasize that concepts I want my students to get out of the documentary. Using clips also allows for more class discussion during the viewing. There are some resources above that I will use to create some guiding questions and connections to the AP Human Geography curriculum.
This documentary is perfect for an economics course.
