The Joy Luck Club
The Joy Luck Club is a film that was released in 1993. It was adapted from the novel written by Amy Tan with the same title. The film is about four older women, all Chinese migrants living in San Francisco. They meet regularly to play mahjong, eat and tell stories. The movie also reveals the hidden pasts of the women and how their lives are shaped by the clash of American and Chinese cultures as they overcome their conflicts and strive to understand one another including their family bonds. I chose this movie because I think that the women’s past lives have plenty of moral lessons to learn.
