I used this website often when I was in Korea. In addition to covering various happenings in Korea, it also provides insight into contemporary Korea culture. The magazine provides a tremendous look into how Koreans, especially young Koreans, are currently engaging with the world through the rapid changes happening in the country. Korea is no longer homogenous. Seoul is a metropolitan and the people of that city have a taste for cultures beyond asia.
Students will find this website helpful because it is easy to use and talks about relevant topics. In the classroom, the website can be used as a resource to learn about modern Korean culture and how it is dealing with the fast pace of globalization. For example, a student can use the site to understand how Koreans feel about Mexican food and compare that to their own culture's attitude towards Mexican food. This would be really fun for my own students since most are Hispanic and I am myself Hispanic. The site also give tremendous insight into how modern Koreans understand their own history and what they continue to value in their history. Most of engagement with other cutlures revolves around static understandings, but this website is dynamic and moves whenever and whereever the people of Korea move. I cannot recommend this site enough to anyone who is interested in Korean culture.
