I thought this is a great opportunity for us to teach our students the Chinese philosophical thoughts of Taoism advocating humility and religious piety and emphasizing living in harmony with the concept of Ying and Yan form a universe. The studtents researched on both existentialism and Taoism to compare and contrast the similarities and the differences while reading the texts, Annie Dillard's Memoir American Childhood,  Mathew Arnold's Dover Beach, and  Judith C. Ortiz with the essenial question: How do our interactions with envirobbnment reveal signficant aspects of ourselves?
