As we planned this week, our 10th graders read the articles from Lucy H. and understood  the severe  air, water, and siol pullutions in China. They also researched the similar topics from our environmentalists to keep our earth clean and return fresh air, water, and soil to the living species in mall groups. Then, they decided to take actions to call the publics to support their actions. We made a field trip to Manhattan Beach on May 18th with 80 students in three buses and 6 advisory teachers. They spent 2hrs in cleaning the beach by picking up trashes in the sands in groups of four and distributing 120 flyers they made to protect our envrionment and living species to the beach goers and others there on the beach. Our students are greatly appreciated by the local residents and beach goers. Some of our students even stepped into the water and picked up items and dumpted them in the trash cans. Of course, they enjoyed their volleyball and soccer games in the sands after that." We finally take actions to protect our earth" from our students' voice. Hopefully, students from all over the world will join us, especially students in China.

I enjoyed reading about your field trip. I  thought that your trip to Manhattan Beach was a fantastic hands on learning experience for your students!  The articles they read on China was a great way for them to understand how severe the pollution is around the world.  A great lesson to teach our students is that although we can't change things in another country we can begin by keeping our own environment as clean and as healthy as possible.  During my next school year I plan on teaching my 4th graders about pollution, recycling and anything else that affects our environment.  We don't have a lot of funding for buses, but I thought I could take my students on an environement  walk around the neighborhood to clean up and pick up any trash that may harm our earth.
