Hi everyone, since I teach World Geography and Economics I was looking for some web pages that might be useful for the class. I came across this website from Columbia University. It is pretty user friendly for both students and teachers. It offers basic information but useful stuff that can supplement any lecture both, advanced or simple. It has tons of resources for teachers such as lesson plans and history itself, and sections for elementary and advanced teachers. It is very easy to navigate with clear links that are partitioned by time periods/eras etc. I then stumbled across a section that suits my needs. I linked to a map section that showed detailed maps. I like this because I have my students label various maps. There are also several sections that have questions that students can answer when they visit the website. One can pick and choose and assign any sort of activity. It also divides the site into the three areas of study in our class: China, Japan, Korea along with South Asia and Southeast Asia to round out the region. I thought it was useful to have links to contemporary articles and information, then found it pretty funny that it linked back to the US-China institute web-site. For my needs in a geography class, I will certainly find this useful. Don’t be turned off if you’re an elementary teacher, this has a lot of useful resources/links.http://afe.easia.columbia.edu/
