This website gave me a few great ideas for foreign produced films that I would be interested in using in my classroom. The Website addresses the benefits of using film in the classroom and how a teacher can enhance student learning by choosing the right film. There are many recommendations of films to use, which led me to the next website that I researched.

One foreign producer/director that is actually from Israel stood out above others in some of the films that he has made and that is Micha X. Peled. He produced and directed 3 films dealing with various social issues in our world today many of which focus primarily on Asia. One of the films is China Blue that details the lives of Chinese sweat shop workers. This is his second film of a trilogy focused mostly on Globalization. The other films are Store Wars: When Wal-Mart Comes to Town and Bitter Seeds. I will likely use the film China Blue in talking about the modern day issues in relation to globalization. The website, BullFrog Films also gives a list of a variety of topics that teachers may use in the classroom and the films they have produced, many of which include guides for teachers to use in the classroom.

Another area on this website where are a number of films on China is added above. This link provided me with a list of films on China some of which are East Asian producers and directors. One film in particular that I was interested in was Half the Sky, focused on the many changes and challenges that women have faced in China as it became a communist nation. This website is also a great resources in finding foreign made films for various topics on Asia including films created by Asian producers/directors and Asian companies.
