This site has many resources useful to teachers and students in the Seattle area, especially in Washington State history, Citizenship and Government, World History and Contemporary World Problems. The site includes oral histories from community members, activitists, relevant news articlles, maps, and exptensive photograph collections. I found the segregation maps especially interesting. STudents can see how redlining was used to create the neighborhood patterns they can recognize in their own town. We also used this site to research housing covenants that discriminated against Black and Asian families. The site also includes a number of research articles on topics ranging from interracial marriage to Filipino union workers. While the site focuses on the American experiences of Asian citizens, the site complements much of what we have been learning in class.
The site is somewhat clumsy to navigate, requiring a lot of scrolling when internal links don't seem to exist.
