The Boxes brought meaningful changes to Asia based on the attack from west: import science, technology: cannons, guns. Such new information gave Asia an advantage to continue to improve its technology based on weapons and arms, especially on cannons and fire arms.

During the 100 Days of Reform based on "the Hundred Days' of Reform in ERA 7: The Age of Revolutions, 1750-1914/Politics and Statecraft" the reform was, "...the reform was a failed103-day reform movement (June 11 to September 21, 1898), undertaken by the Guangxu emperor, Tan Sitong, Liang Qichao, and aimed making sweeping social and institutional changes in China."
China was on the verge on trying to make changes socially, politically, that lead China to a new movement known as "Self-Strengthening".
