Through our seminar, I learned a lot about the relationship between China and Africa.  Although I had heard about the relationship, I gained more knowledge after being part of this seminar.  The Council on Foreign Relations website has a designated page entitled "China In Africa."

From the Introduction section to Assessing Sino-African Ties, this website provides comprehensive yet cohesive information about China's role in Africa.   According to the Introduction:

Through significant investment in a continent known for political and security risks, China has boosted African oil and mining sectors in exchange for advantageous trade deals. Chinese companies are also diversifying their business pursuits in Africa, in infrastructure, manufacturing, telecommunications, and agricultural sectors. However, China’s activity in Africa has faced criticism from Western and African civil society over its controversial business practices, as well as its failure to promote good governance and human rights.

As I begin doing more research in reference to this relationship, I am curious to know how key African countries are accepting China as well as the partnership's overall aspects of the Arts, Education, and Commercial Real Estate.  I have a Real Estate Certification and just recently completed the Professional Studies' Museum Studies Certification program at Northwestern University.  I am also a Charter Member of my sorority's International Education Initiatives Committee, and we are currently building schools in both Senegal and Nigeria.   The Council on Foreign Relations will be an excellent resource for further research!  Exciting!
