This website is entitled  China Dialogue.  It states  “China and the world discuss the environment.”  The articles are written in both Chinese and English.  It was mentioned in class by Barbara Finamore in her lecture about China and the environment.  An interesting article talks about the Green Belt and Road Initiative. This was mentioned by Dr. Dube.  I learned some interesting facts about China’s commitment to this cooperation with about 37 countries.

    • 91% of energy-sector loans to BRI countries went to the fossil fuel industry in 2014-2017

    • China has committed or proposed to finance one-quarter of the coal plants under development outside the country.

    • BRI countries, not including China, account for 26% for global CO2 emissions.  That

could grow to 50% by 2050 in the worst-case scenario.

Other interesting articles inform the reader about many different current environmental issues around the world including, for example, 5 low-cost technologies that help protect Latin America’s environment. I enjoyed reading some of these articles as they offer a different perspective to the reader and researcher, they offer a glimpse into the current issues from the Chinese lense. It is helpful to have that!

The topic, "China and the World Discuss The Environment," certainly presents information that is extremely relevant to today's society, education, and legislative issues.  I feel the articles present information that has both technical and layman's information that the students can understand or that can be easily modified for their understanding.  The articles present information with percentages, and this allows for opportunities to include lessons in basic and other mathematical operations.  Often it is difficult for students to understand percentages and mathematical information, and these articles allow for education in these areas.  Also, I like the informaton presented here because it presents information about China but also presents information about other countries, allowing for education on geography and culture.  Because the information is presented about several countris, they present opportunities to use educational strategies of comparison and contrast, skills students need to learn and apply for all educational learning.

Great link to science and enviromental issues. Great to have articles in Chinese, English and even Spanish!! I do not currently teach science, but my coworkers who teach it will find it useful, especially the Spanish articles. https://dialogochino.net/26411-5-low-cost-technologies-that-help-protect-latin-americas-environment/ You can never have enough resources for science.
