    USC 2018 STUDY TOUR UNIT PROJECT

    PA Standards: 

    • 8.4.W.A. Evaluate the role groups and individuals played in the social, political, cultural, and economics development throughout world history.
    • 8.4.W.B. Evaluate how conformity and change have impacted the world today (belief systems and religions, commerce and industry, technology, politics and government, physical and human geography, social organization).
    • 8.4.W.D. Evaluate how conflict and cooperation among groups and organizations have impacted the development of the world today.

     

    "One Belt, One Road" (slides)

    • Essential Questions: What are the goals of China's One Belt One Road Initiative? Why do countries disagree about this?
    • Objectives: Students will be able to identify the key components and goals of China's One Belt, One Road Initiative. Students will analyze videos to compare and contrast international perspectives on the policy and form their own conclusions.

    Evaluating the Chinese-Taiwanese Relationship and "One China" (slides)

    • Essential Questions: What is Taiwan? What factors complicate Chinese-Taiwanese relations?
    • Objectives: Students will be able to explain the complexities of Chinese-Taiwanese relations, considering multiple perspectives. Students will use evidence to think critically about possible outcomes of the political and economic conflict between China and Taiwan.
