The website, “Confucius Institute Online” is an easy to use website for kids and teens. Although the illustrations are cartoonish, the content is interesting. I particularly liked how the website has short historical cartoons in Chinese with English subtitles. Although most of website is mostly for Chinese speakers and teachers, I think this would be a good website to show students and have students be able to see China’s history from the Chinese perspective in Mandarin Chinese. Videos available include “Zheng He,” “ The Grand Canal,” and “Mulan.” I think this would be good as an part of a lesson students could do on their own. For example, I would have students watch and listen on headphones as a part of a lesson on the class website. It would be interesting to discuss student’s impressions of the language, art, ect.
