I am not sure what inspired what first; the poster or the song, but after a great deal of searching and translating, I came to the conclusion that the poster is a visual interpretation of a children’s nursery rhyme called “I found a coin at the roadside” the reason behind this conclusion is that I found the poster at a website called Mamalisa.com and they talk about a nursery rhyme while displaying the same poster. Furthermore, I believe that probably this poster was used to educate Chinese children about the value of honesty and the communist sense that nothing belongs to an individual, but to the whole society.
The name of the song is "Yi Fen Qian"
This is the translation:
By the roadside, I find a coin of one cent.
Picking it up, I bring it to a policeman.
Comrade Policeman takes it, nodding at me with a smile.
I say to him with great happiness, 'Good-Bye, Comrade'.
