    Melody this is for you!

I went looking for kid friendly websites on ancient civilizations and I came across some great sites that tie Asia and South Asia into the subject of Math!

    Ancient Number Systems Project

Now that is supposed to be the link for the ancient number systems project. That site will connect you to a number of sites from various civilizations dealing with numbers and math. While it indicates it is for 5th grade, it seems to me that it will work for a number of grades. I plan to share this site with our staff on "Buy Back Day". The principal has tapped me to make a presentation on the seminars I have attended and to present my website. You may want to do the same at your school.

    There is a site called

    Ancient Civilizations for Kids

It covers all the ancient civilizations that are taught in the 6th grade, including China and India. It basically will link students to other sites, and they are listed according to civilizations.

I plan to use this site as a resource, and pick the links from it to put in my computer activities for my students, rather than have them search through all the links themselves.

One of the best ways to find good sites is to go to a search engine, and type in "kids," followed by a coma, and then the subject. So far I've gotten great results.

    Lynne,
You posted a great web-site: Ancient Civilization for Kids. This site has given me many ideas for my web-page. I recommend this site for all teachers. Thanks again, Janice
