Both Marvel and DC comics are creating super heroes that are both reflective of the diversity of their readership and U.S. population. DC comics recently rolled out a Chinese superman that will be joined by a Chinese batman and wonderwomen. Additionally, late last year, Marvel created a Korean Hulk. I believe these companies are aware of the changing demographics of the United States as well as the rapid disappearance of print media. If they wish to have a continued future with the next generation, they will need to appeal to the varied population of the U.S. and foreign markets.
