The lesson that I chose to create for the 2019 Summer Seminar on Gender and Generation involved dissecting music to understand cultural values and elements of empowerment / oppression. Students were tasked to analyze both Hip-Hop (something very familiar to most students) and K-Pop (something only familiar to some students) in order to critical analyze both the benefits and detriments to the culture that we consume.

The class was designed for a Leadership and Interethnic Relations class, that uses the Teaching for Tolerance Standards, and tasks students to discuss Social Justice Issues and inequities in our community.
