Discover China - "Discover China LIke Never Before"

    http://discover.china.org.cn/

This website gives travel tips and information related to visiting China, organized in the following tabs: GUIDES, TRIP IDEAS, FOOD & DRINK, & VIDEO. With the exception of the Video tab, each page has a combination of articles with pictures and/or videos on various topics. Some topics include specific things to do in Bejing, Ancient sites around Bejing, articles on the Great Wall, Bejing Emboidery, and following someone learning about and how to do the dance of the lion. The most appealing to me is the Food and Drink tab. This section includes pictures, descriptions, details on preparation, and some videos as well. There are also season/festival specific foods discussed and shown.

Discover China would be a useful website in the classroom, for high school students. While articles provide significant information, they are not too detailed as to lose student interest. The food and drink section could easily be jigsawed and then students can focus on one article/video and share what they learned with other students. There are many articles/videos related to current Chinese culture such as exhibits related to the year of the dog, Things to do at Christmastime in Bejing, and How to be a Lisu bride. It appears that the site is updated to reflect current calendar/festival items and it's possible to go back to older articles and videos.

While there are a significant amount of current happening articles and videos, and in addition articles related to historic and ancient China. All appear to be to give background and understanding of the histoic sites which can be visited. More than one article on the Great Wall dsicussing the history connected to specific sections of the wall and the historic significance.
