    Wow, this is a fascinating view of what's going on in China today. The government has unleashed the genie of captialism and is having trouble trying to contain it. Its odd that the mayors have become the leaders of this growth. But, it makes sense, since they are not allowed to tax, they raise revenue by selling their land to commercial interests. This all can have so many effects as the pressure of energy demands, the unequal distribution of the new wealth, and the local versus the national interests all come to a head. It seems that these economic changes will lead to some major social and political changes as well.
