I decided to review Eddy Zheng's website to learn more about him. Given that I am planning my unit around his story, I wanted to know as much as I could about him. The first thing I looked at was his short bio on his site. I did not realize how many organizations Mr. Zheng has been or is active in. He has really taken advantage of his freedom in a way that many of us do not. He knows what it is like to not be free and it seems from an outsiders perspective that he is working as if he is running out of time.
Another notable feature on the site is a video link to a piece Mr. Zheng has done with the FreeAmerica project, which seeks to inform people on the ails of the prison industrial complex. The face of the project is John Legend, who is fighting for prison reform in this country. The clip is a short 1 minute clip meant to be easily consumed and draw attention to the FreeAmerica site.
Mr. Zheng also has his CV on the site. It is a very extensive and impressive CV. This site will help me plan a lesson around the story of Eddy Zheng.
