It seems like North Korea is one of the few countries that I could use to compare to the society that exist in Fahreneheit 451. In my class, we talk a lot about censorship and the effects of it on reality/knowledge. Usually, we will read the text in class first then make connections to

2. The World
3. Other Novels/Text
on post-it notes. By the end of the novel, their books are filled with post-it notes. Making connections is important when reading because it keeps the mind alert. Usually, I will bring a couple of articles about North Korea and China so they could have a better understanding of censorship. I also show slideshows of what it is like to be living in North Korea. These images are always intriguing for my students because they didn't think that a world like that could exist. It definitely makes them more appreciative of the freedom they have here in the U.S.
