When I was making my last post about travel in Asia, I realized that most of the Asian countries have some sort of fondue style cooking. For instance, Chinese have hot pot, where there is a pot of boiling water in the middle and you can put raw meatballs and fish and whatnot in to cook and eat on the spot. Koreans have their oh-so-famous Korean barbacue and Japanese have some restaurants where you can cook your own food (not exactly like Korean barbacue) on the grill in front of you called okinomiyake (excuse me for my butchered pronounciation of the word). Then theres Mongolian barbacue, where you gather all the raw ingrediants in a bowl (beef, chicken, onions, noodles, etc) and you hand it over to the cooks to cook at a huge grill. (.always thought the huge chopsticks were cool!)

Does anyone know where this concept originated? Or does anyone have other examples of this form of cooking to share?
