Hi folks,
According to Linda's post, it looks like we do not personally need to procure medical evacuation insurance. In case I'm mistaken on that point, I wanted to let everyone know that I did sign up for Traveler's Insurance through AAA. It cost about 35 dollars total, and it covers $300,000 in emergency medical transportation and $25,000 in emergency medical and dental costs. Thanks for giving me feedback when I was struggling with Blue Cross!
Marisa
Marisa, if it's not too late, you may want to cancel your travel insurance through AAA and try to get a refund. We have purchased travel insurance for everyone which covers up to $500,000 for medical evacuation and $75,000 in emergency medical coverage. Apologies for not letting everyone know sooner.
Wonderful! I haven't had time to look into travel insurance, so its great that we are all now covered. I have had so much going on recently with the end of the semester, trying to get some last projects and information in, getting grades in, clearng my room since its going to be use for summer school ( I hope its not wrecked when I ocme back,) and trying to keep up with the classes I take at the same time.
I've used part of each weekend to go out searching for clothes and other items for the trip, but they are all still in the bags that I brought home. I figure as long as I have everything I can pack this coming weekend. Today I was trying to get my final grades online, though the LAUSD system was overloaded and not working most of the day. Tomorrow after school I'm going to help out with our 8th grade graduation which takes place at Pali High up the coast, and then we traditionally go out to a deli nearby, so that nights shot. Thursday I'm going to visit my aunt who isn't feeling well, and Friday is our end of the year faculty party at a teacher's house in Malibu. I may be spreading myself too thin, but I don't want to put aside my responsiblities to friends and family, not to mention my job. I'm thinking that, though we may be running around some in China and Japan, it will be a break for me, since I will not be able to worry about anything else. Why am I saying all this? Well, obviously I'm sort of venting, but maybe I could say I'm just building relationships with my tour members by telling a little about my personal life. I have a feeling, as teachers, you all know the hectic feeling I'm having now at the end of the year. Oh, and I have to get my rollbook together to turn it in. Yikes! Study tour, take me away!
Steve,
I just thought I would send you a note letting you know that I "feel your pain." The way I look at it is that no matter what I am getting on the plane Monday and some things will be done an some things won't be. Of course, things like grades and packing will have to fall in the done column. I too am counting on the weekend.
Good Luck and see you Monday!
Portia
I've also been feeling crazyish this week. I'm done with end of the year stuff - it was pretty painless thankfully! I'm yet to be packed; I have a "purchase" list a mile long (it seems) - even though I've been on top of things all along; and besides laundry, AA, spending time with my dogs, and cleaning my apt. before the live-in dog sitter shows up, I have had little time to truly be excited about this trip. I'm nervous as all get out - mostly about the dogs and making connections to support my sobriety (the trip's end brings with it my 1year "birthday" so I'm freaking out about staying connected) and having enough of everything I need. I can never be prepared enough and I'm a bit "behind" with that.
But I just trust that all will be fine for Spirit is with me. Phew. My vent too Steve!
See you all soon!!!!
I am so glad I just read this post. I also did not have time to find out about medical evacuation insurance. At this point, I was just hoping nothing was going to happen to me. I am thrilled that everyone in the group is covered.
As far as shots go, I did get the Hep A shot, but decided against anything else. I do have a prescription for an anitbiodic, in case I happen to come down with anything while I am there. I am planning on bringing every form of medicine that I think I might need with me.
Like you Steve, I was feeling a little overwhelmed. The end of the year was crazy and I also had to clean my room for summer school use. However, I am just going with the flow now. I have what I need for the trip and I figure whatever I don't have someone hopefully will. Portia said it best, "No matter what, I am getting on that plane on Monday." I am right there with you.
I think we have a fantastic group! Can't wait to see everyone in China! Dana
Kyle, I would like to bring you new CD's, just tell me what kind again. I will pay you $5. for each one you tape for me, music as well as whatever else you got. I know some were music and some were othrs. I got my "slow boat from China" stuff, so I aassume you did also. Please make me one copy of each to bring on Sat. and I will just bring you clean ones. If I cannot make it I know Tracy will be there.
Thanks
