Hi Folks - Venus has gotten things started, but now it's time for everyone to chime in. Please write a sentence or two to introduce yourself. We'll all meet this weekend, but here you can say a bit about what and where you teach, how long you've been teaching, and what you're looking forward to on the trip.

Hi everyone, my name is Amanda. I teach 6th grade English and Ancient Civ at Sepulveda MS. I am working on my secondary social studies credential to add to my multiple subject. I may jump up to 7th grade next year.

I spent the summer of 06' teaching English in China, but did not get to do much more than work. I'm looking forward to experiencing more of the country, as well as Taiwan and Hong Kong.

    Hello Everyone!

I, along with Clay and Venus, will be co-leading the tour this summer. Having gone on one of these tours before, I can tell you that it's intense, exciting, inspiring, and wonderful. You'll come back armed with so many rich experiences and tools to share with your students.

Get your walking shoes and your second winds ready because this trip will demand endurance and patience. But the rewards are great.

Looking forward to meeting all of you tomorrow!

    Hi All,

I'm Jackii. I teach at Piedmont Hills H.S. in San Jose, CA and am currently teaching both World History and AP World History. There is a pretty high population of Asian students who attend my school and it has been interesting asking my students what their views of China, Taiwan, and HK are.

I've visited China and HK as a child but don't recall much of it. I am looking forward to meeting all of you.

    Hello all,
I'm Caroline Bessolo and I teach World History and French at La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks, where I've been for the past six years. This will be my first trip to Asia after years of traveling and short term living in Europe. I'm looking forward to hearing, noticing, touching, smelling (and tasting) what lies ahead.

    Hello everyone,

My name is Stephanie Grey, and I am also a teacher at La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks. I teach 7th and 9th grade English as well as AP European History. I am really looking forward to this amazing experience. I caught the travel bug when I studied abroad in Europe during college, but I have never traveled anywhere in Asia. I can't wait to learn more about the amazing cultures and histories of our destinations.

    Hello everyone!

Like many have already stated, it was a true pleasure getting the opportunity to spend the weekend with such an amazing group of educators. Hearing everyone's curriculum ideas were not only exciting, but also inspiring. I hope for all the best during this experience in order to impact the educational lives of our students.

Anyway, I am currently in my 5th year as a teacher at Pioneer High School in Whittier (not to be confused with Priya's Pioneer HS 😀 ). I teach 9th and 10th grade students in Ancient Civ. Honors and AP World History, respectively.

Last of all, my sincere thanks to the amazing job that our hosts Clay, Venus & Linda provided for us this weekend. Thank you for organizing all the food, presentations, speakers, and any other miscellaneous items that went unseen. Thank you so much!

    Best,

    Manuel
