GuestThanks for the info, Dennis.
I admit that I am a bit of a Hello Kitty freak, so I've been wanting to go to this exhibit.
The website doesn't seem to give a lot of info on the exhibit--is it big? Is it just Hello Kitty, or do other Sanrio characters get a mention? Do they have Hello Kitty inspired artwork, or is it just Sanrio stuff?

Guestit is pretty big, worth the visit. there are other characters as well, but the focus obviously is Hello Kitty. There is a lot of non-Sanrio made artwork, fashion, and accessories. Take the day off tomorrow, head out to the museum and then continue on the metro to the USC class!

GuestThanks for posting. I have not had the opportunity to go, but I will be taking my niece to the “ Hello! Closing Party” on May 22. While I am not familiar with the variety of artist that will be signing brochures and other products, it will be an interesting night. My niece is excited.
The exhibit will be closing on May 31 and the JANM will be having complimentary breakfasts for members every Saturday and Sunday throughout the month of May. It is also providing mid-week discounts (Wed. and Thurs.). Adults pay $14 instead of $20 and children $7 instead of $10.

GuestI think this is such a unique experience! Hello Kitty is such a brand now here in the states that is almost impossible to over see how much money she bring in to the economy.

The Japanese American Museum is very easy to get to...parking is another matter. But the Metro stops right across the street. Lunch in Little Tokyo a block away makes it a perfect day out. The museum itself is very well organized, beautiful, and informative. It can be difficult for younger children however. And while it shows important facets of Japanese American history that should be remembered, it would be difficult to discuss with some. The temporary exhibit of Hello Kitty however is another matter. Despite $20 per adult and $10 for children (use the price to upgrade to member status) it is still worth a visit if you enjoy the pop phenomena of Hello Kitty. There are some great displays here for kids, adults, and all in between. Fancy suits, wedding dresses, guitars, accessories, etc. It's a fun exhibit to go to...until April 2015 anyway.
