Interesting news article today which states that scientists have found the hepatitis B virus in a Korean mummy. The article points out that this is quite fascinating because it was believed prior to this that the Koreans did not use mummification, as it went against their native beliefs. The theory is that neo-Confucianists brought this new practice with them around 1392. I also did not know that the hepatitis B virus is a major concern in modern day Korea, with Korea having the highest rate of incidence in the world- almost double that the next closest on the list. Interesting reading.
