This China highlights web page was a wonderful resource for me and for my students. I am always looking for good sites to show them to further their understanding of the Silk Road, its importance, and how it evolved. This website has the history from all the time period easily organized on the left hand column by titles (time period and years.) It even goes on to talk about the modern Silk Road - Belt & Road Initiative (BRI). Something that is pretty neat in our current virtual climate is that it has pictures, Silk Road maps, what places look like today, discovering ancient sights, and suggestions on tours of the Silk Road! It would be really fun to have the students plan our their virtual tour of the Silk Road using this resource. They could work in groups and use pictures, making it as if they were actually going on a field trip! Overall, the website has a lot of information which can be helpful and overwhelming. I would first walk the students through it. I realize it is more of a travel website, but I think because of that, it could be really beneficial to this sort of hands on project for the students.
