On Thursday March 23 at 8pm there will be a Japanese Shamisen Extravaganza at McCabe's Guitar Shop. The address is 3101 Pico Blvd, just west of the 10 overpass at Centinela exit. What is Shamisen music? McCabe's is a fantastic place to see good musicians perform because it is small and personal.
thanks for the heads up on this event. shamisen is a three-stringed, banjo-like instrument. It can be picked and strummed like a guitar. It's fretless and you can do some alternate tunings, too. I hope I don't forget before March 23.
