Thank you so much for the site. I have a cousin living in Japan, and I will definitely share the information with her.

I have visited this website and began to familiarize myself with it because I too am always looking for creative ways to engage my students in learning. I found myself enjoying using the website, it is not "childish"; it teaches. Has anybody used it in their teaching? I would like to get ideas on how best to incorporate in my lesson planning.

Explore Japan - Kids web Japan

I first found this website about 3 years ago, when I first started teaching history, and had no idea what to do to get my kids interested. Along came the webquest! I have my students look up information about seasons, school, words and holidays, the regions of Japan and what some of the words (gohan for example) they have heard in anime or games actually mean. It's a way to get them interested in the culture and seeing how the past influenced the present.
It is a really easy site to navigate and kids can go back and forth between topics without losing the main page - also fun for teachers to explore and pull in tid-bits to intrigue their students!
