I will possibly be basing one of my lessons this year on the creation of the Japanese Kamon so have been looking into different cites on what has biggest variety of information to share with the students. This website below is a great resource if you would like to have your students create their own Kamon to represent their family. It not only gives the visual representation of different symbols but history on the lineage. If they have their own devices to search on it indendently they can pull ideas from it to help sketch ideas or it could be a great jumping off point to explore it as a class and go through the different symbols listed and history.

Hi Courtney! I teach 9th and 10th grade English. Thanks for sharing this idea and the web resource. I think the idea of using Kamon to represent family is great and will boost student curiosity and interest in Japanese culture. My students are very interested in logos and modern commercial branding, so I believe this type of content would be quite refreshing and new to them. Thanks for sharing this idea and project. I will be trying it out with my students.
