International Studies Learning Center uses Jia as the Advisory book for 10th graders since that grade level focuses on Asia. Most students enjoy reading the book because it is well written and the subject of immigration is a relevant topic for our Hispanic student population. Most can relate Jia's struggles with relatives or friends who immigrated illegally to the United States.
