I thought I'd post information about upcoming seminars about Korean culture and history. It's run by KAFE (Korean Academy for Educators). I went to the 5 day summer workshop and really enjoyed it. They're going to have some Saturday workshops in April and 5 day workshops in July(I know it's a long time away, but it's good to plan ahead, right?) and I highly recommend it.

Subjects discussed include Korean history, the Korean American experience, Korean food, taekwondo, and a tour of Koreatown.

    Here's the website:

I recommend it also, particularly the week long event during the summer. Unlike the compact version of it in the Fall, the summer event really goes into the details of the day's topic, as well as the opportunity to experience culture via drum lessons and delectable Korean Fare that has been a highlight for many of its participants. There are limited spaces so it is better to apply early rather than late.

I was also a participant at the 2007 seminar. If you want to come away feeling refreshed, enlightened, honored and feed, I'd strongly suggest that you enroll.

At the end of the day, each of the five days, I was NOT is a rush to leave. This is highly unusual for me.

Each of the five days the seminar provided a wonderful Korean lunch and yummy breakfast treats.

The contact info. is listed in the other posts.

Feel free to contact me should you want to ask any questions.

The two ladies who run the seminar are amazing and come from a place of love and enthusiam.

    Peace

I attended the Korean Seminar. I was an amazing experience, it is held at the Korean cultural center on miracle mile. I got a lot of ideas for elementary level students. You learn about the culture, history, food, Korean history in America. We took two short field trips and it is a salary point. So far I thought a lesson on how to play drums in the classroom. No drums needed just hands and desks. My students loved it. You get tons of reading resources, especially kids pictures books. All of the guest speakers have amazing sense of humor that makes the lectures go by super fast. I do recomment this Korea Studies Seminar.
