In few words, a haibun is a short prose writing, typically just a single but well developed paragraph or two (usually describing an experience) that concludes with a summative haiku that may be subtle or direct, preferably the former.
This is a great way not only to add a multicultural dimension to your students' writing lesson, but just as importantly, to engage higher thinking skills.
