On my way back from Mammoth this summer, I stopped at the Manzanar Relocation Center. I have stopped there before but this was the first time that I got to see the new museum they opened. The museum really brings home the human suffering that the internees experienced. Lots of furniture, tools, photos and artifacts on display. Two exhibits really moved me and that were the toy room which held some childrens toys left behind and the other was a wall with the names of every internee at Manzanar. I found some names of a couple people I knew also a surprise name of a woman who lived up the street from me as a child. They also have a decent gift shop with a section on teacher resources ranging from k-12. If you are ever out that way it is worth a look.
