I love Asian food. I love eating it, smelling it, and cooking it. When I was in Korea I had the opportunity to eat some of the best Asian food around. What is difficult though is finding a restaurant close to where you live that has food you love. Up until 2 years ago I lived on the Central Coast. I lived in a small town called Atascadero. There were a few places you could go for any food, much less Asian food. I was struggling. I begged my husband to find me a good place to eat. I asked all around to my coworkers and anybody who I thought might have some insight into my distress. There was one place that came popping up, but it was located in Shell Beach. Shell Beach was located about 35 minutes away over a grade. We decided one evening to give it a try. It was old and a real kind of “dive.” The smells that hit my senses were incredible. They seated us and when the waitress struggled to speak English, a smile began to form on my lips. The menus in our hands were gripped with excitement and anticipation. Every table was full and people were everywhere waiting for take out orders. We ordered Mei’s shrimp, green beans with beef, and some other things we loved. When the tastes hit my tongue, I practically sighed with delight. It was delicious and perfect. I was lost in all the eating and was so relieved to have found an Asian place I loved. My husband and I made this our date night locale. I live in Bakersfield now. I miss Mei’s. If you are ever in the Pismo beach area. Try Mei’s.

I was visiting the Central Coast a couple of weeks ago and decided to try Mei's. As you have stated and recommended, I was not disappointed with the food or service. The waitress we had was not much of a talker so I was not able to find out about the history of the establishment and with further research, was not able to find out anything from the internet. So many times, Chinese food is prepared very greasy and with bad cuts of meat. This was not the case. In fact, my food came out first, hot and fresh, followed by my husband's plate. They were made as ordered, not pre-prepared for convenience. Fresh vegetables accompanied with delicious sauces. If you are in the Shell Beach/Pismo area, stop in and try this hidden treasure.
