    Clay,

Will we be able to easily find ATM machines that are compatible with American bank cards? I had problems in prior international travels even after being assured by my bank that I would have no problem. I use the Orange County Teachers Credit Union and will contact them about it but what insight do you have based on your earlier experience?

    Clay,

How much "other" money should we anticipate bringing? Any baseline figure.

    Thanks,
    LaRue

I just used a debit card in London for a week. I contacted my credit union first and let them know. My friend who is an avid traveler, and took me on the trip for my Birthday, said debit cards are the way to go because there are no charges from most of our banks for using them, but the bank on the other side might charge. I will know soon. If you use credit cards you really get ripped.
My Chinese students tell me the deals in China will drive me crazy. My Japanese students say their country cost wise is very prohibitive for purchasing items.
